Evolution Acoustics was founded in 2004 by the late Jonathan Tinn. After spending several years as a dealer for ultra high-end audio equipment, it was Jonathan’s dream to be able to manufacture loudspeakers that would compete with everything in the market sonically, without artificial pricing structures for deep discounting, nor the added costs of marketing and large overhead. His grandfather was a musician, engineer, and inventor in the research and development department for RCA in the 1920’s and 1930’s focusing on experimental and state of the art loudspeaker design. Growing up with a father who is a musician, electrical engineer, speaker kit builder, and audio recording enthusiast provided Kevin ample speakers and other equipment to explore his creativity during his youth. As a third-generation audio engineer he developed a keen understanding of speaker and cable design from a very young age. Kevin is also an accomplished classically and commercially trained professional freelance trombonist who grew up in a family of musicians, enjoying live concerts of all different types in a wide variety of venues. This lifelong ear training and speaker engineering combination is the foundation to Evolution Acoustics product success. Science alone is not enough. He continues to perform professionally and uses those experiences to better understand how to improve sound reproduction on a daily basis, always evolving and refining. After Jonathan’s passing Kevin took over the company with his wife Florence, where they continue to maintain the same principles of creating the highest performing products for the greatest value possible.
